1.3 Synthetic Route

The raw material used to manufacture EPP is high melt strength polypropylene. The production methods mainly include extrusion method and the dipping method in the tank. The extrusion method is to put high melt strength PP and Changji into the extruder, add foaming agent, disperse evenly and cool extrusion. The method of impregnation in the kettle is to soak PP beads in butane at temperature and pressure, and then suddenly reduce the temperature and pressure to make them expand and foam.
